On 10th June 2014 .uk domain names became available for the first time, offering a stronger sense of national identity by putting the UK on par with other countries.
Whilst .co.uk domains will not be affected by this introduction, the change will enable greater availability of domain names. Currently, an organisation must own the .co.uk domain to be eligible to purchase the .uk version, but this may not always be the case.
To protect future interests, Pepperneck is recommending that UK businesses secure their own .uk domain (which can be forwarded to an existing .co.uk site).
Pepperneck provides comprehensive hosting and domain management services for over 220 websites. If you would like assistance in purchasing a new .uk domain please contact Stefan Potter or call the office on 01684 578546.
